Girls surf too!

This post may seem a bit repetitive as a lot has been written on the subject and reminded again during the last International Women Day. But the problem is still there. ⚠️ Despite women outperforming men in educational settings, we move up the career ladder at significantly lower rates ⚠️. I am resolute to help as a woman engineer, executive coach, former management consultant and HR Executive in the Professional Services space. Hence this post.

I read an article in the March-April 2025 HBR (How Women Can Win in The Workplace) listing few things to do and I found it pretty pragmatic:
1️⃣ Find the right company, not just the right job, a supportive one which invests in employee's growth and interested by diversity.
2️⃣ Make big, bold moves, ie start over in a new occupation or industry or take a role which requires a significant number of new skills.
3️⃣ Enter the power alley. Having a leadership role and/or a profit and loss responsibility are real accelerators, and also really enjoyable as you can make an impact more easily and you are in the driving seat.
4️⃣ Go where the jobs are, obviously!
5️⃣ Embrace technology: research done by Rem Koning, Associate Professor at HBS, shows women are adopting AI tools at a 25 percent lower rate than men on average “despite the fact that it seems the benefits of AI would apply equally to men and women." 😟 This is a problem as more and more jobs require some familiarity with technology.

🌟 If this seems scary, or you don't know where to start, build a support network, and get some dedicated help to navigate this journey with more confidence.
